Yes we know that captivating is spelled with a “C” but what was held on Oct. 26 at the Edgewood Country Club was an acronym for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated’s themed day party, “A Kaptivating Affair.” The party included a full meal, educational wine tasting, a cigar bar and silent auction items.
AKAs took a break in the action to present their inaugural Alpha Alpha Omega Community Champion Award to two stellar members of the community: Roger Humphries Sr. and Kontara Morphis. Humphries, one of the most prolific percussionists in the jazz industry, is also a teacher, recording artist and leader of his namesake band, RH Factor. Morphis is the Artistic Director of K-Theatre Dance Complex. Currently she serves as the Assistant Artistic Director of REED Dance in Pittsburgh. Also she was awarded the Transformative Teaching Artist Award through The Heinz Endowments and New Sun Rising. DJ Mac provided the soundtrack for the evening.
