The Women of Excellence Legacy Honoree – Valerie McDonald Roberts, a true trailblazer

VALERIE MCDONALD ROBERTS is truly a woman of “firsts.” The first African American woman elected to Pittsburgh City Council in its history. The first African American elected to a Row Office in the history of Allegheny County as County Recorder of Deeds. There are countless people in our region that call Mrs. McDonald Roberts a trailblazer, a mentor, a friend. It’s only fitting that Mrs. McDonald Roberts was the New Pittsburgh Courier’s Women of Excellence 2019 Legacy Honoree—her longevity, accomplishments and professionalism are unmatched.
