SENIOR ROBOTICS ENGINEER (MULTIPLE OPENINGS)
Carnegie Mellon University, The Robotics Institute seeks Senior Robotics Engineers in Pittsburgh, PA to perform advanced design & development of systems-level software, components & equipment used in robotics research & development. Duties incl: testing & analyzing feasibility, design, operation & performance of robotic systems; identifying operating & installation problems & recommending design modifications &/or new applications for robotics equipment; developing, modifying & maintaining operating protocols & procedures & related technical documentation. Req: Master’s deg/foreign equiv in robotic systems development/mechanical engineering/related field. 6 months exp in robotics development. Exp must incl: Robot Operating System (ROS); developing navigation & sensing algorithms for autonomous mobile robots operating in outdoor environments; prototyping robotic applications in C, C++, Python or Matlab. Must know (through course work/exp): 3-dimensional & projective geometry algorithms for computer vision & robotics; (ii) machine learning techniques incl neural networks, decision trees, Bayesian learning & convolutional neural networks; robot motion planning & navigation algorithms; kinematics of robotic arms, robot control & manipulation algorithms; designing full lifecycle of robotic products from conceptualization to architecture & commercialization.
