Allegheny County reports no new COVID-19 deaths, 13 new cases

Less than 2% of both the state and Allegheny County populations have been tested.

Allegheny County reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, representing an approximate 1.1% increase from Saturday, as well as two new hospitalizations but no new deaths. This brings the total number of positive cases in the county to 1,211 with 73 total deaths and 213 past and present hospitalizations.

Less than 3% of the county’s cases are in people under the age of 19. Fifty-seven percent of cases are in people 50 and older.

Pennsylvania reported 1,116 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Sunday, an approximate 2.8% increase from Saturday, as well as 13 new COVID-19-related deaths.

This brings the state’s total caseload to 41,165 and its total deaths to 1,550. There are 7,635 cases of COVID-19 among nursing and personal care home residents and employees across 425 facilities in 40 counties. In those facilities, 952 have died.

As of Sunday, 56% of Allegheny County’s confirmed cases were in white people, 17% were in Black people, 1% were in Asian people and 25% were unknown.

Pittsburgh is the hardest-hit municipality in the county (355 confirmed cases as of Sunday), but the rate of infection is higher in some less populous municipalities. Richland (65 confirmed cases) has a case rate of 58.6 per 10,000 people, compared to 11.6 per 10,000 people in Pittsburgh. Kennedy (45 confirmed cases) has a case rate of 58.7 per 10,000 people.

Pennsylvania has also reported 157,428 total negative COVID-19 test results, and Allegheny County has reported 14,380 total negative tests. This means that less than 2% of both the state and Allegheny County populations have been tested.
