Gov. Tom Wolf said Monday morning that it was “selfish” and “unsafe” that some county officials throughout the state have declared they will reopen their counties in violation of the stay-at-home orders that remain effective in their areas.

“The fight is not yet over. This is not the time to give up,” Wolf said. “We have fought this deadly enemy in the best way we can.”

Wolf also said these counties may not receive discretionary spending from the state if they violate the stay-at-home order and phased reopening of the state.

“The funding we have put aside to help with fighting this crisis will go to the folks doing their part,” Wolf said.

The governor also said businesses opening prematurely may not have the protections of their liability insurance, and restaurants could face citations.

Pennsylvania reported 543 new COVID-19 cases and 24 new COVID-19 deaths Monday, bringing the totals to 57,154 cases and 3,731 deaths. Of the state’s total deaths, 2,552 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. Individuals aged 65 or older make up most of the deaths and hospitalizations.

Allegheny County reported one new COVID-19 death Monday, bringing the county total to 123. Another eight COVID-19 cases were also reported, bringing the county total to 1,511. The number of past and present hospitalizations is 274.

In Allegheny County, white people represent 55% of all cases; Black people represent 20%; Asian people represent 2% and the races of the remaining cases are unknown.
