Pittsburgh Public Schools and Paragon Foods provide fresh produce weekly to families

Pittsburgh Public Schools is excited to announce a new partnership with Paragon Foods, the New Pittsburgh Courier has learned. Paragon Foods will distribute a mixed bag of fresh vegetables every Thursday for the next six months in the parking lots at the following schools:

Pittsburgh Carmalt: 1550 Breining Street—15226
Pittsburgh Faison: 7430 Tioga Street—15208
Pittsburgh Gifted Center: 1400 Crucible Street —15205
Pittsburgh Milliones (U-Prep): 3117 Centre Avenue—15219
Pittsburgh Perry: 3875 Perrysville Avenue— 15214

“Paragon Foods is the latest community partner to share their resources with PPS families. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from Paragon as this weekly contribution will provide nutritious value to local families as they prepare meals,” said Dr. Anthony Hamlet, Superintendent, in a release.

Paragon trucks will arrive at 9 a.m., and families can begin to line up at 10 a.m. Food will be placed in each family’s car/trunk from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. Mixed boxes of produce may include potatoes, onions, carrots, and sweet potatoes, apples, pears, oranges, blueberries, strawberries, and tomatoes. Families unable to participate with a vehicle can contact The Great Pittsburgh Community Food Bank at 412-460-3663 ext. 665 or Dial 2-1-1.
