Allegheny County reports 138 new COVID-19 cases, one new death

Allegheny County reported 138 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, July 19, bringing the county total to 6,263 reported cases. Pennsylvania reported 786 new cases, bringing the total to 101,027.

The newest reported cases in Allegheny County are among patients ranging in age from 11 months to 93 years old with the median age being 40. Positive results are from tests from July 3 to July 18.

There was one new hospitalization reported in the county, bringing the total of past and present hospitalizations to 508, and one new death reported in the county, bringing the total to 208 deaths (196 confirmed and 12 probable). Deaths occurred in individuals from 23 to 103 years old, with a median age of 84, health officials said. The most recently reported fatality, of an 82-year-old individual, occurred on July 18.

State health officials reported eight new deaths, bringing the total to 7,015. County-specific information and a statewide map are available on the COVID-19 Data Dashboard.

“As the state has put in place new mitigation efforts to offset recent case increases, we must renew our commitment to protecting against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a press release.

Indoor dining order update

On Friday, the Allegheny County Health Department rescinded a ban on indoor dining in Allegheny County, replacing it with an order allowing for indoor restaurant dining at 25% capacity.

Under the order, dine-in seating areas at bars, restaurants and private catered events must be closed by 11 p.m., though takeout can continue later.
