The Allegheny County Department of Health [ACHD] reported 75 COVID-19 infections on Monday, bringing the total case count since March 14 to 8,932 cases.
The new cases derived from 1,331 tests conducted from August 3 through August 9.
ACHD also reported one 1 additional hospitalization. No new deaths were reported. To date, there have been 259 deaths and 735 past and present hospitalizations.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health [DOH] reported 601 new infections and 3 fatalities Monday, bringing the statewide case count to 119,453 and 7,317 deaths.
Throughout the pandemic, nursing homes and personal care facilities in 61 counties, including Allegheny, have reported 24,172 total infections from residents and staff within 883 facilities. The facilities have seen 4,974 deaths. Health care workers in the state account for about 8,672 of total cases.

Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control Enforcement Officers this weekend visited 1,190 licensed liquor establishments. Officers from the Pittsburgh office checked 394 businesses and gave out 10 warnings.
The state has awarded $96 million in state grants to 4,933 small businesses hurt by COVID-19. Around half of the grants went to disadvantaged businesses, according to Gov. Tom Wolf’s office. The COVID-19 Relief Statewide Small Business Assistance funding comes from the state budget, which includes $2.6 billion in federal relief. The second round of funding is open starting today. Applications are accepted through Aug. 28. Applicants who did not receive grants in the first round remain eligible and do not need to reapply. More information is available here.
