Mt. Lebanon looking for diverse applicants for new DEI committee

The New Pittsburgh Courier has learned that the Mt. Lebanon Commission is looking for individuals to serve on a newly formed committee which moves Mt. Lebanon forward on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The committee will be part of the volunteer community relations board. The Mt. Lebanon Commission said it’s looking for diverse applicants.

The committee will consist of four working groups: Community Awareness/Community Building; Diversity in Boards and Hiring; Police Engagement; and Mt. Lebanon Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Recognition, Event Planning and Incident Response.

The Commission said the most important part of working on the committee is the ability for members to be respectful of differing opinions while working toward solutions. The opinions of the participants will help inform the Commission as it sets municipal policy.
