The Pennsylvania health department reported 4,361 new positive cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, marking the highest daily increase of cases in the state. The department also reported 62 new deaths, bringing the state totals to 238,657 cases of COVID-19 and 9,086 deaths from the virus.

The Allegheny County Health Department [ACHD] reported 317 new COVID-19 cases and one new death Tuesday, bringing the county-wide totals to 17,973 positive cases and 448 deaths.

The individual who died was in their 80s and associated with a long-term care facility.

The majority of these positive cases came from new PCR tests from the past five days. The county labeled the rest, 81, as probable cases. The new cases range from one year to 105 years-old, with a median age of 37.

The county warned against attending gatherings as the county’s case counts remain high, noting that many of the cases reported attending parties and gatherings, including several Halloween parties.
