H.E.R., Chris Brown, and Beyonce Lead Nominees for Soul Train Awards.

H.E.R., Chris Brown, and Beyonce lead the nominees for the Soul Train Awards airing tonight on B.E.T. and multiple streaming platforms. The awards show features the best and brightest musical artists in R&B, Soul, Gospel, and Contemporary music. Returning for the third time are hosts Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell. The evening begins with a special preshow, “Show-Coming: Countdown to the Soul Train Awards,” hosted by Flex Alexander and Shanice at 6 PM CST.

Singer/Musician and Songwriter H.E.R. leads all nominees with eight nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, The Ashford & Simpson Songwriters Award, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year. Chris Brown follows with seven nominations and Beyonce with six nominations. Song of the Year Nominees include:

  • Beyoncé – “Black Parade,” ”
  • Chloe X Halle – “Do It,”
  • Chris Brown & Young Thug – “Go Crazy,”
  • H.E.R. Feat. Y.G. – “Slide,”
  • Summer Walker & Usher – “Come Thru”
  • Usher Feat. Ella Mai – “Don’t Waste My Time.”

The theme of this year’s show is “Feed Your Soul.” Scheduled to perform at this year’s awards show is Babyface, Brandy, CeeLo Green, Charlie Wilson, Ella Mai, Jazmine Sullivan, Lucy Day, and Smokey Robinson.

Grammy Award-Winning Singer and actress Monica will be presented with the Lady of Soul Award. With a music career spanning over 20 years, she’s enjoyed continued success with multiple record-breaking albums and over 25 million records sold.

The 2020 Soul Train Awards airs tonight on B.E.T. Networks (B.E.T., B.E.T. Her, VH1, and MTV2) at 7 PM C.S.T. DJ Cassidy will launch the broadcast debt of the virtual series, “Pass the Mic” directly afterward.
