When Amber Boyd and George Luck initially met, the plan was not to become business partners.
“I had put on a lot of weight and had found George about six years ago on Facebook. He was a trainer, and he was into drinking shakes and I was like I’m not into that; I just want training,” said Boyd. “He ended up getting me to drink the shakes, and I dropped 64 pounds.”
From that, Vibe Bellevue, a health nutrition bar, was born. It offers healthy tea, shakes, and smoothies.
“So basically, we’re like a healthy Cheers,” said Luck. “Before the pandemic hit, on Saturdays and Sundays, if you came to Vibe, it was literally like a day party. People would ride past and be like, oh my God, I’m going in there. They would actually think we were drinking, and we’re like, no, this is all just healthy energy teas and B-12 shots. We were just doing healthy fun stuff, but it was still like a bar environment.”
While 2020 diminished a lot of profit for many businesses, Luck says Vibe Bellevue managed pretty well all things considered.
“The whole pandemic, business actually went up because people were more focused on immunity shots and immunity boosters. We were able to make it happen.”
The start and promise of a new year has also benefited business. Driving sales are tasty menu items like strawberry cheesecake smoothies, blue lagoon teas, and banana pudding shakes.
“We have to make it fun because when people think of healthy, they automatically think, oh it’s going to be nasty. It’s strawberries and sugar-free things that go into it to make it good,” said Boyd.
Both Luck and Boyd are grateful for their support so far, whether that be social media posts or loyal customers. They appreciate the opportunity their business has created, especially when it comes to interacting with people.
“We take care of them, talk to them, and make sure they are ok on top of giving them something amazing,” said Luck. “Without them, there is no us.”
