The Joint Apprenticeship Committee of the Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local #2, Pittsburgh, PA is accepting applications for consideration towards apprenticeship  in the Mechanical System Insulator and Asbestos Worker Trade.

The Midwife Center, a state-licensed and nationally accredited birth center, has an opening for a qualified Registered Nurse to join our team as a casual nurse. Role includes assisting our Certified Nurse Midwives in the intrapartum and postpartum period.  Position is per diem with a minimum 48 hours scheduled per month. Required to rotate day and night shifts, weekends and holidays. Requirements current PA RN license, CPR, 2 years labor and delivery experience and NRP preferred.

Associate OHS & Training Officer

Port Authority is seeking an Associate OHS & Training Officer to implement and provide training on SMS, occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene and other safety aspects of rail and bus operations as well as work closely with Manager to learn all aspects of OHS&T as they relate to operations at Port Authority. 

Essential Functions:   

  • Develops, coordinates and conducts effective training relating to occupational safety and health programs that include but not limited to; employee right-to-know, hazardous materials and hazardous waste awareness, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, personnel protective equipment, Automated External Defibrillators (AED), bloodborne pathogens, and others as required.
  • Work with operations and maintenance instruction department to ensure development of identified training programs and curriculums.
  • Ensure SMS training is provided to all key employees and staff as directed by Chief Safety Officer.
  • Provides status reports of training activity on a quarterly basis or as requested by the Manager of OHS.
  • Provide respiratory protection training and conduct fit tests on employees involved in the respiratory protection program.
  • Train safety officers as required in specific OHS elements.
  • Provide Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Transportation training as required by the DOT.
  • Work with the safety officers to develop and provide automated external defibrillator (AED) awareness training to employees.

Job requirements include:  

  • BA/BS degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health Sciences, Environmental Science/Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related area, preferable in the transit industry.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience delivering, and facilitating educational, informational and job/task programs for adults.
  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Handles multiple tasks and adheres to deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of Windows, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Availability on a 24-hour per day, 7 day per week basis.

Preferred attributes:

  • Qualified Accident and Injury Prevention Provider as defined by Pennsylvania Worker’s Compensation Regulations.

Fleet Vehicle Specialist – Bus

Port Authority is seeking a Fleet Vehicle Specialist – Bus to provide support and assistance with bus technical issues under the general directions of the Manager of Bus Maintenance Support.

Essential Functions:   

  • Works closely with Manager of Bus Maintenance Support and the Fleet Coordinator to develop bus maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Standard Practice Bulletins (SPB’s) for implementation at the bus operating locations and the main shop.
  • Directly coordinates and supervises support level maintenance for fare box and radio/head sign activities completed at the bus divisions and the main shop.
  • Interacts with division managers of maintenance, Manchester, Central Storeroom and Material Control Specialist regarding parts and inventory issues needed for buses to return to revenue vehicle service.

Job requirements include: 

  • Two-year technical degree or Associate degree in Business,

Electronics or related field.  Related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of maintenance experience with bus fleets and/or heavy automotive vehicles.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s

License, Class B with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake Restriction removed or must possess a valid driver’s license and acquire a Commercial Driver’s License as described above within 90 days of appointment to the position.

  • Demonstrated ability in the use of Windows.
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
  • Customer-focused, well organized and results-oriented.
  • This is a Safety-Sensitive position subject to all testing provisions under the Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug and alcohol testing.  The person selected for this position may be required to be tested prior to being awarded the job.

Preferred attributes:

  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Electronic Engineering or directly related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in managing maintenance of bus fleets or other fleets of heavy automotive vehicles and equipment.
  • Vocational training in mechanical/electrical-electronic equipment and systems.
