The Borough of Dormont Fire

Department is a local fire department

which provides fire protection and

life safety services to the residents

of the Borough of Dormont and

mutual aid to our surrounding

communities. The Borough of Dormont

Fire Department is currently seeking

applications for the position of Fire

Apparatus Operator/Desk Officer,

a paid, full-time position within the

Department.

Qualified candidates for the position

of Fire Apparatus Operator/Desk

Officer shall have the following minimum

qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent,

US Citizen and twenty-one (21)

years of age at the time of application

  • A minimum of three (3) years of fi re

suppression experience

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator’s

Course (EVOC) Certification

  • Valid Drivers license and the ability

to obtain a PA Class B Commercial

Driver’s License within 6 months of

hire

  • Experience driving a Quint and/or

Pumper preferred

  • IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I

Certification

  • Hazardous Materials Operations

Certification issued within one (1)

year of hire

criminal background check, medical

examination, and physical testing

TRANSIT POLICE OFFICER

Port Authority is seeking full-time

Transit Police Officers. A Transit

Police Officer is responsible for ensuring

the safety of Port Authority customers,

staff and property throughout the areas

it serves.

Officers must enforce all local, state

and federal laws on and around our

transit system.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts in accordance with rules,

regulations, and procedures as a

sworn police officer of the Commonwealth

of Pennsylvania.

  • Knows all areas of Allegheny

County and is able to respond to

those areas in a timely manner.

  • Be present at daily roll call, as

required, properly uniformed and

equipped; receive orders, details,

etc.; proceed to assignment by the

most direct route immediately following

roll call.

  • Investigate all suspicious persons

and activity within sector as pertains

to Port Authority.

Job requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License.
  • Current Act 120 certification or candidate

must successfully pass the Act 120

certification test prior to an interview.

  • Successful completion of administered

written Police Officer exam.

  • Successful completion of administered

fitness exam.

  • Basic clerical skills.
  • Ability to observe and analyze

situations objectively and respond

appropriately.

  • Ability to handle emotionally

charged situations.

  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in

emergency situations.

  • Professional and effective communication

skills to include:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in

writing in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to understand and execute

oral and written instructions.

  • Successfully complete/maintain

the following required training:

  • Yearly firearm qualifications with a

department authorized firearm.

  • Maintain Basic First Aid and CPR/

AED Certification.

  • Yearly mandatory in-service training.
  • Job specific training, as required.
  • Ability to work various shifts, pass

days, weekends/holidays, as required.

  • This a Safety-Sensitive position

subject to all testing provisions under

the Drug and Alcohol Policy, including

random drug and alcohol testing.

The person selected for this position

may be required to be tested prior to

being awarded the job.
