Bill Neal: United Rays Corvette Club…The legacy continues!

:10—My apologies and correction goes out to the legendary United Rays Corvette Club. In a past article, I mistakenly misrepresented the status of the club. Established in 1977, the United Rays Corvette Club still maintains its current membership status, separate from the newly-established Elite Corvette Club. United Rays will continue to display a positive influence in the Pittsburgh community and their love for America’s sports car…the corvette!

:09—I am not quite sure how some of you dedicated Steeler fans don’t get this. Just flash back to the bench photo with Big Ben in pain and agony. Champions just don’t go out like that. At least not if they can help it. Here are the reasons you don’t burn the Terrible Towel for 2021-22. 1) Ben will come back with a proven and stronger surgically repaired arm. 2) Alabama running back and soon-to-be Steeler All-Pro Najee Harris is the real deal. He not only solves the running back problem, but now the defense has to respect the run which opens up the passing game. 3) Last year’s league-leading defense is back in tack with Devin Bush at middle linebacker, Joe Haden healthy again at left corner, pro Cameron Heyward at right defensive end and the man that should have been defensive player of the year, T.J. Watt.

:08—Time to get down and dirty…Steeler training camp starts July 21, and remember, they square off with the “Dallas Cryboys” in this year’s Hall of Fame game Aug. 5.

:07—For the record, I’ve got the Steelers winning the AFC North and Ben goes out in a blaze of glory at the Super Bowl…OK, get back to me on that last part!

:06—If you couldn’t see it before, here’s the difference. For you young bucks who want LeBron to be the G.O.A.T, the real G.O.A.T. would have taken Chris Paul’s and Devin Booker’s heart and would have scored 60 if needed in game six against the Phoenix Suns…or 65…or 70…you get it! Now LeBron’s out the playoffs, and the Suns are in the Western Conference Finals.

:05—That being said, I’ve got Utah winning the NBA West and for as much as I wish, “The Greek Freak” could live up to his MVP standing and lead the Milwaukee Bucks to glory. But alas, there is too much fire power in Brooklyn. The Nets will win the East with or without James Harden cause Kevin Durant is that good!

:04—Sorry Sixers fans…they’re close but they need another superstar to work with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

:03—OK, look at it this way. If the Pirates had a 20-game pitching ace and at least two possible 15-game winners, your Bucs would be 39 and 23 instead of 23 and 39. Hey, just trying to brighten up your day.

:02—Simone Biles is clearly the gymnastics G.O.A.T. But where she truly mesmerizes the world is with her unbelievable, infectious smile, humility and grace, and more than anything, her courage. Just watch her performance in slow motion and be amazed!

:01—The G.O.A.T. of all G.O.A.T.s left this world too soon. Muhammad Ali, “The Greatest of All-Time”, died five years ago on June 3, 2016. Do yourself a favor, pull up “The Thrilla in Manila” where both Ali and Joe Frazier said they were prepared to die in the ring. Easily, the greatest fight ever! Then for a chaser, watch “The Champ” shock George Foreman and shake up the world with an eight-round knockout. Ali! Ali! Ali!

:00—GAME OVER.
