P.R.O.M.I.S.E. Basketball Camp enters its 10th year

New Pittsburgh Courier contributor Jay Donaldson, pictured at above, and his son, Jakim, are excited about holding their 10th P.R.O.M.I.S.E. Camp, Aug. 4-6 at A Giving Heart Community Center, 816 Climax St., Knoxville.

Jay Donaldson told the Courier that it’s been an overwhelming pleasure to be able to teach and mentor African American children over the years through the game of basketball. In the heart of summer, the P.R.O.M.I.S.E. Basketball Camp gives youth a fun activity of which to engage, see and make new friends.

P.R.O.M.I.S.E. is a local, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping men, women and children who have lost loved ones to violence. P.R.O.M.I.S.E. stands for Protecting and Restoring the Order of Mankind with the Initiative of Serving Elders.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-18. To register or for more information, call 412-580-8030.
