Majestic Lane named Chief Equity Officer of the Allegheny Conference

The Allegheny Conference on Community Development announced on Aug. 10 that Majestic Lane will be the organization’s new Chief Equity Officer, effective October 18, the New Pittsburgh Courier has learned.
Lane will provide strategic leadership for the Conference’s efforts to support inclusive growth and economic racial equity in the 10-county Pittsburgh region.

“We’re excited to welcome Majestic aboard to advance the Conference’s commitment to creating a welcoming and more inclusive region where all people thrive. We look forward to working with him to execute the plan developed by the Conference’s Racial Equity Committee, co-chaired by Bill Strickland, founder and executive chairman, Manchester Bidwell Corporation, and Grant Oliphant, president, The Heinz Endowments. This work includes improving the economic outcomes of the region’s Black population by focusing on economic mobility, building up communities and combating structural racism,” said Laura Shapira Karet, chair of the Allegheny Conference and president and CEO of Giant Eagle, Inc., in a statement.

“The experience and expertise that Majestic brings to bear, along with his dedicated focus, will enhance existing efforts across the Conference’s agenda to improve equity in our region, including the attraction and retention of diverse talent; advancement of racial equity through policy and advocacy; and the measurement and communication of the region’s progress across a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion metrics. I’m thrilled to have him join my senior management team,” said Stefani Pashman, Allegheny Conference CEO, in a statement.

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to lead the Conference’s initiatives to improve racial inclusion in our region and to work closely with the Conference team and regional leaders. The region has much potential but there’s also a lot of work to be done to assure that there are opportunities for all here,” Lane said, in a statement.

Since 2018, Lane has served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Equity Officer for City of Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto.

Before joining the city, Lane worked extensively in community engagement in the areas of public education and community development. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and lives in North Point Breeze.
