MANAGER OF FARE SYSTEMS

Port Authority is seeking a Manager of Fare Systems to plan and direct the agency’s technology services dedicated to Fare Management Systems and Connected Software. This includes support, maintenance, upgrades, review, and implementation along with related system integrations, data provisioning and management, and other innovative projects. Focus on the use of innovative technologies to improve the agency and customer experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Directs activities related to evaluation, implementation, and management (including contractual and technical) fare management (aka automated fare collection systems – AFCS), and related connected services, such as safety and security, operational and maintenance, and other future innovative systems and services that directly support the transportation efforts of the agency. (65%)

o In conjunction with Budget and Project Analyst, coordination of budget management, invoicing,

negotiation, request for proposal and bid preparation, issue tracking and resolution, including all other contractual issues between Authority and vendor(s).

o Identify gaps between delivered software and agency’s needs.

Propose solutions and work with both internal agency areas and external vendor to implement solutions.

o Investigate and resolve issues with AFCS incident reporting system, auto-generated reports, and hardware

o Serve as liaison to, and manage various reports for, Regional Transit Agency coordination regarding shared technology systems, notably AFCS.

o Ensure training and support services are available for fare management services. .

o Development of implementation, communications, and test plans – including oversight of quality assurance, user acceptance testing of system changes.

o Oversees the interface/integration among various ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) computer programs and systems; assists with training on ITS products.

Job requirements include:

  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Engineering, or directly related field from an accredited school. Directly related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in technology services and support .
  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven leadership, as a team lead, project lead, manager, or comparable leadership capacity.

  • Ensuring Contract Documents meet intended needs of Port Authority and outside agency requirements and standards.
  • Constructability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordination of activities, including railroad, utility, real estate, environmental, community, municipal, governmental agencies, Port Authority operation and maintenance, training, and turnover.
  • Minimizing impacts to Port Authority operations and maintenance functions and maintain the safety of the public and Port Authority employees.

Job requirements include:

Assists in obtaining permits, as needed.

Job requirements include:

  • BS Degree, in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical major from an accredited school. A two-year degree in a related technical field and directly related experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in progressive responsibility for projects in design and/or construction work.
  • Professional and effective communications skills.
  • Valid PA driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of Windows.
