Kehlani is speaking out after Superfly actor Kalaan “KR” Walker was convicted of serial rape on Monday (April 18).
The former actor and rapper was found guilty of raping six women and girls, three of whom were 16-year-old aspiring models and four other women, in attacks dating back to 2013. Walker was also found guilty of sexually assault another victim, and was acquitted of charges for three other individuals who accused him of assault. In total, Walker was accused of sexual assault by more than 30 women.
Kehlani has previously spoken publicly about Walker’s charges, revealing that she knew some of the victims personally. In 2021, the singer released a statement showing support for the women who came forward.
“I am standing with the victims of a serial RAPIST who I know personally to be aggressive, dangerous, and twisted,” Kehlani wrote at the time.
On their social media this week, Kehlani penned a message regarding Walker’s conviction. “I did not forget who tore down the victims of sexual assault when this came out,” she said.
“I did not forget what bloggers and blogs and platforms felt like they had to play neutral and give a rapist a platform for the sake of clicks and views when this came out. I hope all of y’all beat your own f––king a–– and eat your own words. This man is going to jail for the rest of his life, guilty as hell.”
During the trial, Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Wallace said Walker would promise the young women he would introduce them to Drake, filling them with “hopes and dreams,” court documents show. The repeated promises, along with Walker’s own rising success in films, Wallace said, was used to manipulate his victims before he sexually assaulted them.
One victim said Walker contacted her in 2013 and offered $5,000 for a music video appearance. When she arrived, Walker raped her, the victim testified. Another victim, who was 16-years-old at the time, said that the then 22-year-old Walker told her if she wanted to make it as a model, they would need to film a sex tape together.
Yet another woman said she was raped in a parking lot after a Tyga concert and didn’t know the identity of the rapist until a DNA sample matched Walker.
Walker faces a maximum sentence of 100 years to life in prison and is expected back in court on May 27.
