The Borough of West Mifflin is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as its next Public Works Director. The applicant should have at least three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in Public Works or a related field, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Minimum qualifications are a High School Diploma/GED Equivalent but a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, construction management, or related field preferred. The New Pittsburgh Courier is seeking a highly motivated individual with a sense of urgency in developing engaging general news and feature content to be our City Editor. The successful candidate must be an engaging storyteller with strong reporting, writing, and editing skills and the ability to work within a fast-paced production and marketing environment while maintaining high ethical standards and meeting deadlines. Our ideal candidate should also be able to produce quality photographs to supplement their stories and have graphic layout skills.
Duties will include: working with editorial leadership to determine priorities for daily news coverage and reporting geared towards the Black community for both digital and print publication; and daily collaboration across a close-knit team, assisting leadership in the planning and managing of day-to-day operations, proofreading and editing copy for compliance with policies, style, and tone; and attending events, panels and speaking engagements on behalf of the publication.
