Da Brat has welcomed her first child with her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart.
On Thursday (July 6), the 49-year-old rapper gave birth in Atlanta to a baby boy that weighed in at 7lbs, 8oz, and measured 20in long, according to People.
“I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me!” Da Brat told People. “Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.”
“Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy,” she added. “This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”
Da Brat announced in February that she was expecting. She previously told People that there was a “lot of stuff” the couple learned “about women over the age of 40.”
“I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me,” the rapper said at the time. “I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
Da Brat said her relationship with Dupart, who was already a mother of three, caused her to start “looking at life so differently” and inspired her to begin planning to expand their family.
“We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning…but I felt like she should have the experience,” Da Brat said. “She is so nurturing.”
