New Pittsburgh Courier

Bill Neal: Don’t count out the Steelers next season!

:10—Let’s start at the beginning. OK, OK, not quite the beginning…kind of the middle beginning. Anyway, let’s go back to last week when your Pittsburgh Steelers held their future in the palm of their hands…problem was they couldn’t hold on to it!  (See what I did there?)

:09—#1.  I will hold onto the “I told ya so” title because if they had held onto the ball and not turned it over 3 times in the first half, my I told ya so would have been fire!!! As the young folks say, yeah I know….would’a, could’a, should’a. #2.  I guess all of you will shut up about Mike Tomlin being gone!  If he’s OK with the billionaire owner, Cam Heyward and T. J. Watt, he’s OK with me.

:08—Before we leave that topic, can you please stop acting like never having a losing season doesn’t matter, because it does. Tell me you big money people don’t strive to finish in the black every year (no pun intended…ha!).  And how many of you surgeons are OK with 50/50 heart transplants?  And I guess you truck drivers out there live by the motto, “If I make it there, fine, if I don’t, no problem.” I got more but I’ll stop there.

:07—Here’s my last 2023 season I told ya so.  And I am telling you this for the last time. There will be a new offensive coordinator, as you already know.  Kenny Pickett will be starting QB. They will offer Mason Rudolph so much money he won’t be able to say no! Besides, there’s not a starting job waiting for him anywhere, so why relocate to be a backup; and lastly, Kenny P. will rise and shine.  Take it to the bank!

:06—By the way, to my #1 fan…and you know who you are, when I told you so… you knew!  I am just sayin’.

:05—Now, for the goods. The Ravens routed the Texans as expected, 34-10, and will advance to play the Chiefs this Sunday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. And the 49ers and Packers delivered one of the best playoff games thus far and the 49ers will advance to play the Detroit Lions this Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

:04—Wait, stop…let me get this in before I forget.  I am behind Coach T. 1,000 percent, but if he doesn’t send the alleged punter Pressley Harvin III packing, I will burn all my Steeler gear, and trust me it’s a lot! I know a guy from Homestead with one leg who can out kick Harvin…his nickname is “One Foot.”  I am sorry, I know that’s cold, but it’s true.

:03—The O-Line is good, has to get better.  QB will be Pickett.  Receiving corps is good—will get better with at least one quality addition in the draft or off-season. Special teams are good to very good.  D-Line is solid with Heyward returning, and of course with T. J., still fine tuning the linebackers, still looking for the next Ryan Shazier.  D-Backs are OK and will be OK, but still need quality backups.  Done and done!!!

:02—Get all your money and run this to the casino.  The Ravens will beat the 49ers, much to my dislike, and that makes for a great Super Bowl.  And the next, new Black quarterback will win a Super Bowl.  That being Lamar Jackson!

:01—Here’s some exciting news for ya . . . Pirate pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Feb. 15.

:00—GAME OVER!
