A Pittsburgh Juneteenth question looms large?

What is the conflict over two 2024 Juneteenth celebrations being held in downtown Pittsburgh? (See, New Pittsburgh Courier June 5-11, “Downtown Pittsburgh will have not one, but two Juneteenth Celebrations,” “Controversy has divided the Black community”.)

Compare: On the same days and same hours Kwanzaa celebrations are held in many Pittsburgh neighborhoods with no conflicts, squabbles, or disputes.

The same holds true for Martin Luther King Day celebrations, and all during Black History Month.

Why then, the Black community must ask, are two Juneteenth Celebrations in downtown Pittsburgh an issue?

Thank you,

Fred Logan
