Several Black stars took home awards at the 2024 Tonys.

On Sunday (June 16), Broadway’s biggest stars were honored at the 77th Tony Awards hosted by Ariana DeBose at the Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City.

Dede Ayite made history as the first Black Woman to Win a Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Play. Billy Porter was honored with the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for his contributions as an activist and spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community.

The show also featured a surprise performance from Alicia Keys and Jay-Z.
