Judge Greg Mathis and his wife Linda Reese Mathis are reportedly going their separate ways after decades of marriage.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Linda Reese Mathis filed for divorce from the TV judge on Thursday (August 22) after 39 years of marriage. Linda cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation, which she listed as July 17, 2024.

Linda requested spousal support but it’s unclear if the two had a prenuptial agreement in place. The pair tied the knot in June 1985, before Greg became the star of an award-winning reality court show.

Linda and Greg share four children, Jade, 39, Camara, 36, Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34, all of whom are adults, so there will be no need for a custody agreement.

News of the divorce comes after Greg and Linda appeared together at the Influencers Brunch in March. The two discussed their family dynamic and whether their family reality show Mathis Family Matters would return in an interview with Baller Alert.

“We are a whole family, a wholesome family,” Greg said. “We all have our flaws, but we don’t fight. Never have… If we have to fight, the answer is no [to returning].”

“Black families are great families and no, they’re not filled with inter fighting… We want to have a strong influence on our community and show that,” Linda added.
