MESSIHA, DAMNIO AND MAJOR SCOTT GETTING BOOKBAGS! …AT THE HEIRS BARBERSHOP BACK TO SCHOOL BASH.
DJ Jay Blaze had Frankstown Avenue in East Liberty abuzz with his mix of new and throwback Hip-Hop tracks, while the barbers and stylists at HEIRS Barbershop were busy inside their shop giving kids and teens a free haircut or style, just in time for school.
The New Pittsburgh Courier was there for the barber shop’s annual Back to School Bash, Aug. 23, at 6467 Frankstown Ave., next to the Kingsley Center. Other sponsors included G Fit, L.A. Fitness, Team Active Training, Vintage Skins, Noblemen, and Scoop TV.
In addition to the free cuts, bookbags were given away while they lasted, and they didn’t last long…a popular item, indeed.
Curtis Miller is the CEO of HEIRS, LLC. He started cutting hair at age 10 and merged his passion for barbering and social work to craft a unique customer experience. The barber shop’s mission is built on five pillars: Mentorship, Entrepreneurship, Mental Wellness, Community Engagement and Apprenticeship.
The barber shop has a motto: “Changing lives one head at a time.” Miller said his shop provides mentorship, builds confidence, and teaches life skills.
