Speak Out…How well do you think the PIRC will work?

Pittsburgh recently unveiled its program to combat violent crime so we asked Pittsburghers what they thought. Here’s what you said. “It sounds great. If you can get folks to support it through education about the benefits, it can have a positive impact on the city. I am looking forward to the effects it has on the community. I am from the south and see similar issues at home.”Jamie GoingsValidation engineerRaleigh, N. C. Jamie Goings, Rashida McElrath, David Burton

Muslims and Christians have many common denominators

I was introduced to the Muhammad Study Group and the result was that I started to frequent Mosque #22 located in Wilkinsburg. There was a brother there who questioned me in a friendly manner in one of my early visits, by asking did I belong to the Nation and I responded what nation? We both smiled and he then stated, “I’ve noticed you and you appear to be totally at ease, and I understand you are a practicing Christian.” My response was, “I feel totally at home, because the teachings of the most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, and the Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan are not foreign to me, because throughout my life there were Christian ministers, who delivered almost identical messages of positiveness.”

Cuisine…Salt Sense for Deli Lovers

Love the taste of deli meats and cheeses but wonder how it fits into a salt sensible lifestyle? The answer is, easily! Like much of the advice regarding the food we eat—from fats to sugars to salt—most nutrition experts will agree that the best approach to healthful eating is moderation. One of the ways that food lovers have found to live within health organization guidelines of no more than 2,400 milligrams of salt per day is by selecting lower sodium foods that offer great taste and by making wise choices when adding seasonings. Black genocide and Black acquiescence

Why aren’t more Black people against abortion? To sell a virtually unabated abortion agenda, people are told abortion is necessary for instances in which the life of the mother is at risk. The need to terminate a child conceived by rape or incest is also cited. Such reasons may seem logical, but they account for only a small portion of actual abortions.

Biweekly mortgage programs: savings or scams?

About five times per month I get letters in the mail from various companies encouraging me to refer my mortgage clients to them for Biweekly Mortgage Payment Programs. They offer me an incentive—if my client becomes a client of theirs, they’ll give me a kick back. About fives times per month, I ball these letters up and throw them in the trashcan. If you’re a homeowner, you’ll receive similar letters in the mail. Yours will read along these lines. “Take 5 to 7 years off of your 30-year mortgage.” “Save $30,000 or more in interest off of the life of your loan.” They’re touted as “Accelerated Mortgage Reduction Programs.” There’s nothing inherently wrong with the concept of biweekly mortgage payments. As a matter of fact, should you participate in a Biweekly Mortgage Payment Program, you’ll save money and time—two of America’s most precious resources. How much money and time will you save? Well, that depends on your interest rate. The higher your interest rate, the more time and the more money you’ll eventually save.
