More than 150 mentors and mentees were matched up for a two-year mentoring experience at Dave and Buster’s in the Waterfront in Homestead, as Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Community Activity Center launched its mentoring program for 2009-2010.
The MACAC mentoring program provides the spiritual, psychological an emotional safety net for African- American youths, as well as rigorous academic tutoring support, career development activities and character development.

The program serves sixth- to eighth-grade students from the East End of Pittsburgh with a specific focus on students within Faison Accelerated Academy, Lincoln Intermediate, Sterrett Classical and Westinghouse Annex.
Heading the program are Denise Williams, MACAC executive director; Kyle Henderson, mentoring program manager; and Tru Dixon, mentoring coordinator and senior Pastor Dr. William H. Curtis.
