Friday night, March 6, at the Homewood Coliseum was billed as a B.Y.O.B First Friday that was for the grown and sexy. If you are not up to date on B.Y.O.B it means bring your own bottle, and that is exactly what the hundreds of people that attended the Mint Condition concert did. They brought bottles, bags filled with food, flowers and balloons to celebrate birthdays, just like an old school cabaret.

It was a lively evening with Nick Nice as the deejay and Brandi as the on stage host. Opening acts included an entertainer by the name of “Gemini” who hit the stage in a white maxi coat, white pants and matching white fedora. He soon got rid of the hat and the coat, opened a few buttons of the shirt while singing a few Marvin Gaye tracks. R&B group Artistree followed to warm up the crowd with covers of R&B favorites. A nice touch to the evening was when a young man and woman came to the stage and the young man got down on bended knee and proposed to his longtime girlfriend.
The main attraction, Mint Condition was in the building and wowed the crowd with titles from their greatest hits like “U send me swingin’,” “What Kind of Man would I be,” “Someone to Love” and closed the show with “Pretty Brown Eyes.” They also showed off their skills as accomplished musicians.
It was a great evening strictly for the grown and sexy brought to Pittsburgh by Groove Productions.
