Of the 1,500 hundred names mentioned in the Bible, not many are women. However, when the few are mighty, the way is good. At Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 1000 Bryn Mawr Rd, in he Hill District, the humbled women of Grace, accepted their due at their annual May Celebration. The theme was “We are all baptized in the Holy Spirit.”

Moderated by Deacon Stephanie Simmons, the filled service was a heart felt testimony to the Holy Spirit. Grace’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Ronald Peters, gave a passionate reminder to the flock and visitors from North Carolina, Chicago and as far as Jamaica.

“We must be diligent to what is prevailing in our communities,” said Rev. Peters. The harmonics of the melodic and gifted RC Specials Chorus resonated in the sacred house during the ceremony. Several of the Chairwomen were given honors. The real message, that brought it home, came from, native journalist of WTAE-TV Pittsburgh, Alicia D. George.

Her speech left no stone unturned as she addressed domestic violence, drug overdoses, youth offenders. Although, during moments in her delivery, she sprinkled points of contention, with jokes, they were not ignored.
