
The Mayor’s Award for Public Art was established in 2007 to acknowledge the power of public art to benefit the City economically, socially, and aesthetically, and to celebrate those who are most committed to supporting this important element of our community. Nominations must be received by October 19, 2015 at 5 p.m. The 2015 award will be presented at the Greater Pittsburgh Art Council’s Annual Meeting on November 16, 2015.
“The City of Pittsburgh has a long tradition of celebrating the artistic and cultural values of our region,” said Mayor William Peduto. “I am proud to honor those most committed to maintaining this extraordinary asset in our community.”
Mayor Peduto will select a finalist based on the quality and impact of the public art project or initiative. Nomination criteria, information and forms may be found here. Nominations must be received in the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council offices, 810 Penn Avenue, 6th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 by 5pm on Monday, October 19, 2015.
Individual and organizational nominees must have implemented a work of public art or developed a public art initiative in the Pittsburgh region. Organizational nominees must be located in Pittsburgh region. Artists do not have to be located in the Pittsburgh region or be natives of the Pittsburgh region. Self-nominations are welcomed.
