I’m still waiting to hear what the national NAACP accomplished after the walk from Selma to D.C. Now, they are going to talk to a man who has made it clear that he doesn’t care about Black people’s civil rights. I will wait again to hear what comes from this meeting. And people wonder why young people are not involved with the group. Duh.
The national NAACP is dying, which is leading to the state and city NAACPs’ deaths. Yes, there are still some very active city and state chapters, but they are dwindling very fast. The question is, what has the NAACP done lately at the national level?
With all the needs of the Black community, the NAACP has offered nothing. People are tired of marching with no purpose behind it. When Dr. King led the Selma March, it was to bring to the attention of Selma, Ala., and the country that Black people had the right to vote, and that they were demanding their right to vote and all other rights that White people had. But what was the purpose of the latest NAACP Selma March? What did it accomplish?
I’m not knocking Connie Parker, the head of the Pittsburgh NAACP, she’s doing all she can do. She’s really committed and has tried to make a difference. I’m just sayin’ that without a strong national NAACP to provide financial support and leadership, the local is going to struggle, and that has been the case of Pittsburgh and cities throughout this country. Where are the young leaders?

OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT?…Oprah Winfrey, a television host, actress, philanthropist, publisher and producer who grew up in poverty in Mississippi, has made a habit of shattering glass ceilings. In a recent interview, Winfrey hinted that she could become the first Black woman president. David Rubenstein of Bloomberg Media asked the 63-year-old billionaire whether she ever thought about running for president and actually be elected?
“I never considered the question, even a possibility,” Winfrey said, and then implied she was reconsidering the idea.
“I just thought, ‘Oh-oh,’” she said.
“Because it’s clear you don’t need government experience to be elected president of the United States.”
Winfrey said further, “I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough.’ … And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh.’”
Not only would she be the first woman, but the first Black woman. Can she beat Trump in 2020? Yes, in a landslide. She’s a far better candidate than Hillary Clinton. But why would she want it? Why did Trump want it?

Trump vs. Ryan on Social Security and Medicare…Since taking office, President Trump has doubled down on his promise to save Medicare and Social Security. But, Speaker Paul Ryan has other plans. In a press conference, Ryan claimed that if we don’t cut Medicare, “we are hosed.”
The showdown is coming. I hope it’s not the people who get hosed.
