The New Pittsburgh Courier has learned that Donta Green, head coach of the championship-winning Westinghouse Bulldogs, has been appointed executive director at the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh. The announcement was made June 28.
“The decision to appoint Mr. Green acknowledges his outstanding performance and leadership over the past year in the role of Acting Chief Operating Officer,” read a release from Maggie Beldecos, chief operating officer. “In the face of challenges posed by the pandemic, Mr. Green successfully directed operations and managed students, faculty, and staff. Over the last four years, he has guided nearly 200 students to graduation and facilitated their placement in full-time jobs. During this time, Mr. Green established more than 90 community and employer partnerships. He helped over 50 students to have their driver’s license reinstated or to get one for the first time.”
Green is the second executive director of the organization since its founding in 2010 as a spinoff of the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
“Donta brings a wealth of knowledge and community connections to his new role. He’s an inspiring leader who understands community needs and dynamics, and he exemplifies the values we try to instill in our students,” said TIP Board Chair, Ann Dugan, in a statement.
Green led Westinghouse to their first City League title in 2020 in 24 years. He also serves his church ministry and, with his supportive and loving wife, is a proud and dedicated father, the release said.
“I am honored to serve the Trade Institute as the new Executive Director. I believe the transformation that students experience at TIP will be life changing for generations to come,” Green said in a statement.
