The latest installation of Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, was a box office hit in its opening weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bad Boys: Ride or Die earned a domestic opening of $56 million, higher than the previous estimate of $53 million. The film also earned $48.6 million internationally, bringing its global box office total to over $100 million.

Bad Boys reportedly revived box office numbers amid underperformances from films like “Mad Max: Furiosa” and “The Fall Guy” in May and early June.

The box office success also marks a comeback for Smith after his infamous Oscars slap in 2022. This is the first time Smith has earned the top spot at the box office since the slap.

Amid Bad Boys’ global premiere, Smith surprised fans on Friday (June 7) at a screening of the film in Los Angeles’ Baldwin Hills neighborhood. Fans appear to be embracing Smith despite the 2022 slap.
