“Leon D. Pamphile has turned a commitment to education, healthcare and faith into decades of service in Haiti.”

Leon D. Pamphile has turned a commitment to education, healthcare and faith into decades of service in Haiti. Since founding Financial Literacy Ministry of Haiti in 1983, he has helped build an organization operating 75 literacy centers serving 4,500 participants and a primary school enrolling approximately 600 students.

Its Excelsior Technical Institute prepares young people for employment, while medical missions have helped approximately 10,000 people. Working with the Building Goodness Foundation, FLM-Haiti also established a community health center serving rural communities.

An educator and historian, Pamphile has authored nine books examining relations between Haiti and the United States. His scholarship explores the shared struggles of Haitians and African Americans against slavery, racism and discrimination.

A University of Pittsburgh doctoral graduate and Church of God in Christ bishop overseeing 120 churches, Pamphile connects intellectual leadership with practical service. His work advances a durable vision for Haiti, equipping people with knowledge, skills, care and hope to strengthen their lives and their communities.
