It was a two-fer.  As elected officials and community stakeholders joined the Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the simultaneous opening of two new housing developments.

The Homeownership Choice development, begun in 2000 with a $1 million investment by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, and which leveraged another $10.5 million in private and public investment has resulted in 48 for-sale, single-family homes.

The $11 million Garfield Glen development, just across Kincaid Street, has brought an additional 45 affordable, rental townhouses to the community.  Together the projects have reclaimed more than 200 vacant, or blighted properties.
