Harlem Quartet performs at Kelly Strayhorn Theater

Once again the Kelly Strayhorn Theater under the auspices of Janera Solomon, has brought to the community of East Liberty the finest of talent from around the globe. The latest treat to the ear was the world renowned chamber musicians, The Harlem Quartet, who graced the stage on Nov. 23.
The Harlem Quartet, praised for its “panache” by The New York Times, brings a whole new attitude to classical music.
In addition to performing on chamber music series around the country, they have collaborated with such distinguished performers as violinist Itzhak Perlman; cellist Carter Brey; clarinetist Paquito D’ Rivera and Pianist Misha Dichter and at Kennedy Center in New York City their debut in February 2013 with Jazz legends Chick Corea and Gary Burton.

Later the quartet made their performance debut with another jazz virtuoso, the British saxophonist, clarinetist and composer Tim Garland. Members of the Quartet are: IImar Gavilán, violin Melissa White, violin, Jaime Amador Medina, violin and Matthew Zalkind, cello.
