Bone Marrow Registration Drive
FEB. 14—Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Be The Match will host a Bone Marrow Drive from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh O’ Hara Student Center, Ballroom, 4024 O’Hara St., Oakland. The drive is to register individuals to become bone marrow donors for those in need of a transplant. There will also be drives held at the Duquesne University Student Union from 12-5 p.m. and Savoy Restaurant from 10 p.m.-12 a.m. and on Feb. 15 at Bidwell Street United Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., the Thelma Lovette YMCA from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and the Kingsley Association from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. There will also be a kickoff reception on Feb. 12 at Savoy Restaurant from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For more information, email Stanford White at whitestanford1@gmail.com.

BHM Celebration
FEB. 15—Grandmothers of Pearls will host its Black History Month Celebration from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Homewood branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 7101 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. Attendees must be a grandmother or greater and wear a real or costume pearl necklace. African garb is optional and refreshments will be served. 2014 Valentine’s Extravaganza
FEB. 15—The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund of Western Pa. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. will host its 2014 Valentine’s Extravaganza “Party with a Cause” at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel, 510 Market St., Downtown. The evening will include dinner, dancing, a program and a special tribute to the late Rex Crawley, PhD. There will be a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. Reservations are required. Land Banking Public Hearing
FEB. 20—Pittsburgh City Council will host an Evening Public Hearing on Proposed Land Banking Legislation at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, the City-County Building, 414 Grant St., Downtown. This hearing is in response to a high volume of comments and suggestions made by community members and organizations relating to the creation of a Pittsburgh Land Bank.
