MARCH 14—The Chatham University Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship will host its monthly Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 7:30-9 a.m. at Chatham University, 1 Woodland Rd., Shadyside. The topic is “The Business of Franchising: Advice from the Experts.” Michelle Rice, CEO of Rice Enterprise LLC. dba McDonald’s, and Dorothy Coll, president, Two Men And A Truck, will speak on franchising. Attendees will learn the cost to open a franchise versus starting one’s business, the specific protocols required of a franchise location and how corporate offices support franchise openings. MARCH 16—The Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Governmental Committee will host the 13th Annual Conference for Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the IBEW Conference Center, 5 Hot Metal St., South Side.
