PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police have been warning residents to seek treatment if they’ve had contact with a rabid feral cat that attacked a woman and two toddlers.
Police say they captured and euthanized the cat after it attacked the woman, her daughter and nephew about 3 p.m. Friday. Both children are 3 years old.
Police say the cat attacked without provocation.
The victims have been treated for rabies at a Pittsburgh hospital.
Police and the Allegheny County Health Department say anyone who may have been bitten, scratched or had close contact with the cat should be tested for rabies and treated if necessary. The cat was white with one blue eye and one green eye.
Woman falls from transit bus after rear doors open
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pittsburgh-area transit bus has been pulled from service because a woman fell from the vehicle after its rear doors reportedly opened unexpectedly while rounding a corner.
The Port Authority of Allegheny County says the incident happened about 6 p.m. Friday in downtown Pittsburgh.
Transit spokesman Jim Ritchie isn’t identifying the bus driver or the passenger who fell from the vehicle. She was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital but her condition was unclear Sunday. Ritchie says police told him the woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The doors are typically controlled by the driver, though there is an emergency release near the rear doors. Still, Ritchie says, it would take some force to open the doors.
The bus has been pulled out of service so it can be inspected.
