McKeesport Reunion
JULY 11—The Committee of McKeesport Past & Present Reunion will host the McKeesport Past & Present Reunion. The three-day event will include food, fun and fellowship. There will be dinner and dancing at The Palisades at 6 p.m. on July 11; a Picnic at Moran Field at 12 p.m. on July 12; and a church service on July 13 at an undetermined church. Walk for Life
JULY 12—Kierra Keeps Caring Foundation will host the 5th Annual Walk for Life at 10 a.m. at the Schenley Park Trails, Anderson Grove, Oakland. The event, hosted by Purpose of Life Healthcare and Posh Nail Boutique, will include a celebration cookout and recognition of the winner of the 4th annual Gang Violence Essay Contest immediately following the walk. Enrichment Lecture Seminar
JULY 12—Seshemet Community Council will host its Enrichment Study Group Lecture Series 2014 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the CCAC Homewood Brushton Center, 701 N. Homewood Ave., Homewood. The topic will be “Black male/female relationships and the Black family.” Shanse Hemby and Tess Kenney of Hand in Hand Counseling Therapy Services will be the facilitators. Discussion with Sistah Q
JULY 12—The IPET ISUT will host a Discussion with Sistah Q from 2-6 p.m. at 1117 Wood St., Wilkinsburg. The topic will be “Domestic Weapons of Mass Destruction.” Author Qaraandin will present the domestic weapons of mass destruction that are found in food, medicine, personal care products and more. Summer Experience
JULY 15—The Adonai Center for Black Males will host its Summer Experience from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 8, Black males in the 9th and 10th grade will learn about Black History, Vision and Goal Setting, Strategic Planning and Thinking, Leadership and Team Development, and more. Manchester Community Block Party
JULY 19—Manchester Citizens Corporation will host the Manchester Community Block Party ’14 from 12-10 p.m. at the Manchester Elementary School Playground, North Franklin and Fulton Streets, Manchester. Food Competition
JULY 20—Classic Events! will host its “TASTE O’da BURGH” Food Competition at 12 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 11524 Frankstown Rd., Penn Hills. This competition is for grill masters, caterers, bakers and culinary professionals. This is an opportunity for those individuals to sow off their “mad cookin’ skills.” Trophies will be awarded to the top three winners. Vendor space is available.
