After being open for more than a year in the North Oakland area, AVA Café & Lounge will close its doors tomorrow, Oct. 11.
For those who enjoyed the atmosphere and food of the trendy Café & Lounge, don’t fret, there will still be a place to get your fix.
Justin Strong, owner of AVA Café & Lounge, announced earlier today on Facebook that he will be partnering with Altar Bar, located on Penn Avenue in the Strip District, to provide food during their music shows.
“This Saturday will be the final event at the new AVA in North Oakland, so please come out and support. I am happy to announce that we will be joining up with the Altar Bar live music venue in the Strip District, developing their food program during shows; and eventually creating a daytime cafe within the space,” Strong posted on Facebook.
“I am thankful for all those who supported AVA Cafe & Lounge’s short little life. I look forward to bringing that same love and energy into our new project at Altar Bar in Strip.”
Strong said the offer to join Altar Bar felt right and that it fit into the direction the parent company was moving in. He is expected to start operation by November.
AVA opened in August 2013 after closing its doors at the original location on South Highland Avenue and East Liberty Boulevard, in East Liberty, in June 2013.
