“Festival of Voices,” a concert of local and national gospel artists took place Nov. 30 at the historic Wesley Center AMEZ Church, located at 2701 Centre Ave., in the Hill District. The special guest vocalist and mistress of ceremonies was award-winning gospel artist and pastor Bishop Yvette Flunder of Oakland, Calif.

Selected choirs from the region, directed by some of Pittsburgh’s popular gospel artists, were also featured. Some of participating choirs included Rev. Deryck Tines and the Lemington Chorale, the Victory Community Outreach Choir of McKeesport, Dr. Herbert Jones and the Heritage Chorale and Voices of Worship, and Dr. James Johnson and the Afro American Music Institute.

Each choir sang two selections and then joined with other choirs from the region to sing with Bishop Flunder.
