 Sister 2 Sister, the national entertainment magazine focused on the interests of black women, has announced that it is ceasing publication of its magazine following 26 years of regular issues. Publisher and founder, Jamie Foster Brown told Target Market News that the company has filed for protection from its creditors under Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws. The Washington, D.C.-based firm plans to continue operation of its profitable Web site, s2smagazine.com. The site, which features daily news coverage and updates, claims an audience of 1.8 million unique visitors per month, and the support of national blue chip advertisers. In a letter on the Web site announcing the decision, Brown said she and her husband and business partner, Lorenzo Brown, were appreciative of the continued support that the magazine has received from readers, advertisers and the entertainment industry over the years. “After 26 years of “giving it to you straight, no chaser” we have made the tough decision to cease printing our beloved and very informative Sister2Sister magazine due to the harsh economy,” wrote Brown. “Sister 2 Sister is a dream that became a reality…truly my life’s work and my joy.” “We appreciate that our readers have trusted our mag to deliver the truth about the world of gossip,” Brown continued. “We are still working hard to bring you the best in entertainment, fashion, beauty, news and lifestyle topics. We view our S2S website as a place where our community can come together.” |
