The Georgia Black Legislative Caucus’ Annual Heritage Dinner will host a “Salute to African Americans in the Arts & Entertainment” on Thursday, Feb. 26.
Comedian and actor Chris Tucker and Cynne Simpson will be the master and mistress of ceremonies for the GABLC’s gala at the Thomas Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.
Rainforest Films co-founder Will Packer (who produced such blockbuster films as Think Like a Man, Ride Along and No Good Deed and working on the upcoming films Ride Along 2 and the highly-anticipated Straight Outta Compton) will be honored along with Broadway theater legend Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun, Gem of the Ocean and Radio Gulf), Dottie Peoples, BOHANNAN, Gilbert Young, Andre Thompson, Steve Allen, Brenda Singletary, Millie Jackson, Clarence Carter, Brick and R&B legends S.O.S Band (“Just Be Good to Me,” “Take Your Time,” “No One’s Gonna Love You”).
The soiree will also feature tributes to James Brown, Ray Charles and Otis Redding and include a special performances from Ray Charles’ daughter, Sheila Raye Charles, Tony Terry, C.J. Butler and others.
