Women’s History Month Program
MARCH 28—The McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center will host its 3rd Annual Women’s History Month Program at 2 p.m. at the McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center, 1832 Arboretum Dr., McKeesport. Elizabeth Jones will present “Stella the Steel Worker in the Mon Valley.” She will share some of the remarkable stories of these women who worked in the steel mills during World War II. Bingo Fundraiser
MARCH 28—Hope Academy of Music and the Arts at East Liberty Presbyterian Church will host a Bing Fundraising event from 4-6 p.m. at 116 S. Highland Ave., East Liberty. The event will raise funds to assist the Reese family to recover from a devastating fire where they lost everything. Donations are welcome and reservations are requested. Public Hearing on Violence
MARCH 31—County Council member Bill Robinson will host a Public Hearing on Violence in Allegheny County at 5 p.m. at the Allegheny County Courthouse, 436 Grant St., Downtown. The hearing is to allow the opportunity for public comment regarding violence in Allegheny County, how the County is currently responding to community violence, as well as a discussion of possible additional remedies. Registration is required in advance for individuals wishing to speak and more. Written testimonies must be submitted by April 6. For more information, call 412-350-6570.
Annual Meeting
MARCH 31—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Board of Trustees and Staff will host its Annual Meeting with the Public from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Squirrel Hill branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 5801 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill. The evening will include a State of the Library presentation, a question and answer session, and the announcement of the Library’s 2014 Advocate of the Year and Outstanding Partner of the Year award recipients.
