JUNE 27—The Homewood Concerned Citizens Council will host a Homewood Community Flea Market from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Hamilton Avenue Parklet, 7050 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. Study Group Lecture Series
JUNE 27—Seshemet Community Council will host its Enrichment Study Group Lecture Series 2015 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at CCAC Homewood Brushton Center, 701 North Homewood Ave., Homewood. The topic is “The Global System of Racism/White Supremacy and How it Affects Black People.” This will be an open group discussion amongst attendees. Community Festival
JUNE 27—Schenley Heights will host the Schenley Heights Community Festival from 12-4 p.m. at the Robert E. Williams Memorial Park, corner of Milwaukee and Adelaide Streets, in the Hill District. The event will include dancing, drumming, AARP information, the Story Mobile, information and vendor tables, children, music, entertainment, prizes, food and more. Public Hearing
JUNE 30—Port Authority of Allegheny County will host a Public Hearing on the ConnectCard from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Port Authority, Board Room, 345 Sixth Ave., Downtown. After Aug. 1, Port Authority will charge $5 on ConnectCard sales to cover program costs. This public hearing is an opportunity for the community to voice their opinions. Hometown Hoops Mini-Camps
ONGOING—The Allegheny County Parks Department will host the Hometown Hoops Mini-Camps, weekdays from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at 30 site locations throughout the county. Now through Aug. 3, boys and girls ages 9-18 will have the opportunity to participate in a free basketball mini-camp. Lunch will be provided. Registration is not required, but is strongly suggested. SummerFood Program
ONGOING—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services will host its SummerFood Program at more than 80 sites located throughout Allegheny County. The program provides a free breakfast, lunch and recreation program for children through 18 years old, as well as eligible individuals with disabilities. OASIS Tutor Training
ONGOING—OASIS is seeking volunteers for its Intergenerational Tutor Training from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Macy’s Department Store, 11th floor, Fifth Avenue, Downtown. The training sessions will take place Aug. 4 & 6. Free training will be given to mature adults who are 50 years old or more and would like to commit to tutoring youth for one-hour, per week.
