Stars react to nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Stars react to the 2016 Grammy Award nominations, announced Monday:
_ “4 Grammy nominations! Thank you!” _ John Legend, who has three bids for his song with Common, “Glory,” and a fourth for his track with Kanye West, “One Man Can Change the World,” via Twitter.
_ “i’m nominated for a Grammy. my heart is heavy & i am just speechless” _ New artist nominee Tori Kelly, via Instagram.
_ “Woke up 2 Grammy nominations!! 🙂 Thanks everybody who nominated me and congrats to all the other nominees!” _ Kelly Clarkson, nominated for pop solo performance and pop vocal album for “Piece by Piece,” via Twitter.
_ “We put all our love for jazz and the songs of Jerome Kern _ that are such a testament to the Great American Songbook _ into this recording. It is always an honor to be nominated for a Grammy.” _ Tony Bennett, nominated with Bill Charlap for traditional pop vocal album, in a statement.
_ “Up for a Grammy with these guys thanks to everyone who has been a part of this amazing musical transition,” best dance recording nominee Justin Bieber, via Instagram, along with a photo of himself with Diplo and Skrillex, who all worked on the hit song, “Where Are U Now.”
_ “You always want to believe that songs like `Girl Crush’ are going to rise to the top and be heard, but it doesn’t always happen. It says a lot about the community here in Nashville and the way artists, instead of being competitive, often are cheering each other on.” _ Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild said in an interview with the Associated Press on Monday. The songwriters of “Girl Crush” are nominated for two awards, including song of the year, and the band is nominated for two awards.
_ “I am so grateful to the fans, the Nashville music community and the Recording Academy for their appreciation and recognition. This has been just the most amazing year.” _ Sam Hunt, nominated for country album and new artist, in a statement.
_ “We are incredibly grateful that our music is able to do exactly what we intended . free people from themselves and their struggles. On the road our fans dance, cry, sing, laugh and get into a vibe that transcends outside obstacles like race, language and social status. Thank you to The Recording Academy for noticing and again believing in The Mavericks.” _ Mavericks’ lead singer Raul Malo, in a statement about the band’s nominations for Americana album and American Roots song.
_ “Crying all day… what an honor it is to be next to such incredible artists like (at)torikelly (at)jamesbaymusic (at)samhuntmusic and (hash)CourtneyBarnett ..thank you to the (at)thegrammys for this amazing nomination!!” Meghan Trainor, celebrating her new artist nod, via Instagram.
_ “We are at a loss for words. We are so proud of this album and to see it recognized in this way means the world to us.” _ Alabama Shakes, which collected four nods for its album “Sound & Color,” via Instagram.
_ “I wasn’t expecting the Grammy noms, thank you” _ Ed Sheeran, up for song and record of the year for “Thinking Out Loud,” via Twitter.
_ “I am so … humbly elated to be listed among the other performers I look up to… This is a dream come true. But the real question is, what the hell am I going to wear?” _ Elle King, double-nominee for her hit single “Ex’s & Oh’s,” in a statement.
_ “Wow much thanks for Grammy nomination for No One Ever Tells You!!” _ Seth MacFarlane, up for traditional pop vocal album, via Twitter.
_ “I think my wife wants to go try on some dresses. Cause she’s always looking for an excuse to get a new dress and that’s what we are going to do today.” _ Jason Isbell, who has two nominations for American roots song and Americana album, on how he plans to celebrate with his wife, Amanda Shires Isbell, in an interview with the Associated Press on Monday.
