Will Alexis Cobb hit perfection in her NFL playoff predictions?

New Pittsburgh Courier freelance sports columnist Alexis Cobb correctly predicted in the Jan. 20 print edition that the Kansas City Chiefs would defeat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game (which they did), and that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would beat the Green Bay Packers on the NFC side (which they did, too!)…

It took Cobb to an impressive 12-0 in her NFL playoff picks. Super Bowl LV is this Sunday, Feb. 7. Will Cobb make it undefeated throughout the playoffs? She told the Courier that her prediction is, Tampa Bay, 42, Kansas City, 34.

Cobb said her friends are rooting for her streak to end. “I have been calling friends and foes alike,” Cobb said, “asking them how it feels to be so close to perfection. Needless to say, everyone is sick of me.”

Cobb is picking Tampa Bay because they are a more “well-rounded team than Kansas City,” and that Bucs quarterback Tom Brady “wants this as much as any fat kid in a chocolate store.”

On the other side, though, Patrick Mahomes “wants to be a giant slayer and he is going to do everything to acquire his back-to-back championships,” Cobb said.

“This is a game that will be one for the ages. It will be the first Super Bowl where Tom Brady hoists a Lombardi trophy without (New England head coach) Bill Belichick,” Cobb said.

So, there it is. Will Cobb go undefeated in her NFL playoff picks if Tampa Bay wins? Or will Patrick Mahomes take title number two in his young career? Who do you have winning the Super Bowl? Are you with Cobb or not? Will she be able to gloat for the rest of the year to her family and friends? Or will the G.O.A.T., Tom Brady, walk off the field in defeat and officially pass the torch onto Mr. Mahomes?

Sunday, Feb. 7. 6:30 P.M. CBS. We’ll all be watching.
