Back to the Foodture combines fun and flavor

Back to the Foodture is an American restaurant museum owned and operated by Eddie Barnz and Chef Angel Magwood. They serve a variety of burgers, wings, and hot dogs.

“I came up with the name when I was like eight or nine years old, and I always wanted to do a restaurant museum,” said Eddie. “I collected a lot of the Nintendo’s and toys. When I met my wife, she was actually a hell of a cook, Chef Angel…she had the talent. She had the God gift. I was like man we might as well open up a restaurant.”

The couple didn’t take out any loans but rather bet on themselves.

“Ed just kept pushing. We just cashed out every penny that we had, and we put it in the restaurant,” said Chef Angel.

“When you come in, we try to give you this food, family, fun atmosphere. When you come in, yes you’re seeing all the old electronics… but they also get us. We’re not that big corporation where it’s just numbers and people. We call our customers guests because we feel like they’re guests in our home. We want you to feel that love and appreciation when you come in.”

The family atmosphere is also present throughout the menu, as many of the signature items were inspired by the owners’ family.

“The Buggie burger is named for my youngest son. I used the call him love bug when he was a baby. He really helped me create a lot of stuff on the menu…I let him have free reign. Another signature one is our RJ’s loaded. RJ is our oldest son, and his fries are like a loaded baked potato but with French fries,” said Chef Angel.

She added,

“Ed came up with his wings. They’re called the Barnzy wings, and at the time, they were his favorite way to eat chicken wings. It’s butter garlic parmesan mixed with wing dust seasoning…then the Chef Angel is an omelet burger.”

Back to the Foodture’s creatively unique menu and family atmosphere has made it a success. A new, Downtown location across the street from the PPG arena is coming in October.

“We have a sign in the front that says coming soon and you wouldn’t believe the outpour that we’ve got…everyone is really excited.”
